Catherine Guy (she/her/hers) is a Black Queer femme raised in Queens, NY. Her work raises awareness around issues of race, gender and abuse from her lens as well as the trials and triumphs of being a first-generation American within her family. Catherine tells her story and the stories of many like her not only through her poetry but also through her cooking, and other healing work. Catherine, founded Womyn With Purpose an empowerment group in 2019 and uses her platform to heal and uplift others. Her current focus is to highlight the beauty of being the Black queer daughter of immigrants which she does by promoting her own voice as well as the voices of other Black womyn.

At a young age Catherine learned that her voice was her power and so it became the weapon she never put down. She continues to perform and write pieces about social, racial, and political injustices as well as about the intricacies of love, heartbreak, sex, and self-value. Catherine’s art started as her personal outlet but has since turned into a tool for activism and a way of connecting with the world.
